These garments have an estimated labour time of 20 to 500 hours from design concept to the final one-of-a-kind product, depending on the sewing experience. All material is environmentally sourced in Canada with ethical fair trade living wage for skilled labour.

We hope the new owners of these seasonless clothes, will wear them often. And when you’re tired of the piece, you can return it to us and get a 10% credit for a new piece, and to be part of the slow fashion economy.

Reclaimed textiles reimagined, tailored, and hand-made into gender-neutral and one-of-a-kind pieces with its own history.

We aim for all our products to be long-lasting through our experienced craftsmanship. Each piece is made with thoughtful care, using

80% to 100% of reclaimed textiles.

The visible flaw is incorporated into the design and seen as an addition to the piece, as it is a unique part of the clothes history.

Embracing flaws and imperfections in the piece, as we aim to mend what is damaged.

Design Process

01 . Research

Creating an inspiration board. Style and design, research material and its impacts on the environment

02. Idea development

Style and re-design research. Idea development can take a few hours to months 

.

03. Source textile waste

Collaborate with communities through networking and social media to collect textile waste and divert it from landfills. This process may span several weeks or months.

04. Sourcing & cleaning

All the collected material goes into sanitize cycle launder, then inspected and sort by colour and size

.

05. Design concept

Each xCouture garment is a one-of-a-kind, no piece is the same. So, it is important the concept ideas and design be fluid in fit.

06. Realization / pattern making

Creating pattern, the design by draping on mannequin and pattern making, from conceptual sketches.

07. Finalize the design

Assembled, test concepts for fit and movement. Creating master pattern, specification and sewing manual for master craftsman/woman to follow in production

08. Sample garment

First garment version. Completion of the design from steps 2 to 6. This process can take 1 week to few months. The designer will imagine the fluidity of the garment, it will be worn, and the comfortability of the fit will be tested on a live model. Any corrections are added or refined at this stage.

09. cut & sew

10. The fitting

Test garment fitting and perfecting any last-minute adjustment.

Step 11: Texturize

The designer applies final touches to each xCouture garment. By applying creativity and inventiveness to the piece, giving the garment a distinctive one-of-a-kind uniqueness.

12. Finishing​

Each piece is hand finished with sashiko embroidery stitching, to honour its life stories. ​
